Looks good to me. My 3GS is still a workhorse (although the home button is getting mushy), but the one thing I want out of my next iPhone is a larger screen. I think 4" is overkill, especially if they have to make the phone itself much bigger. I've been hoping for a 3.7" screen for a while, so I hope these rumors are true.

    Hello everybody :),

I'm the autor of these pictures. I've made this with 3dsmax and Vray render. Photoshop has been just use to create the noise and resize the pictures.

For the perspective problem on the third pics, it's just a lens distortion of my camera.
Stop search, it's just a 3D render exercise.

I'm happy to see that my work unleashed passions but it's A FAKE.

To have more information, see :

Now we have just to wait June to see the real truth.

(Sorry for my english, i'm french ^^ )

Thanks for clearing that up, and I have to say, it is quite nice :)

So, how about those metal ones on the Foxcon(s) (check the label, looks like an "n" has been ripped off)

Product is designed to help people realize value.
I mean it's taken them this long to work that out.

i dont think he was arrogant. I think he was genuinely excited about this product, not because it earns the company (and ultimately himself) money, but because it is such a big leap in technology.

And at the start of the keynote, he did say that Mac hardware and software will be announced in a couple of weeks time. Just wait a little while, and i'm sure you'll hear people complaining that the new C2Q MPs dont have their name engraved on the side of the machines:p

I agree I don't think he was arrogant. But at the begining of the keynote he said Mac hardware and software would be announced in a couple of "months" not weeks.

Just as same, just as ridiculous, as saying that running Apple software on other hardware makes it "more difficult to use."

Perhaps, (but I still maintain that it's 'easier' to run 'non-Apple' software on a Mac than it is to run OS X on 'non Apple' hardware. But it's true to say that calling Apple exclusively a 'hardware' or 'software' company is a little short sighted, so we're in agreement there.)

It is the hardware sales that keep them afloat, and it's the software that makes the hardware more attractive.

Which is what a lot of people have been saying already :)

    To clarify:

Apple is not a normal company. It's a one-off, niche company that do things differently from the rest of the industry. If OS X is licenced to other PC makers then part of the Mac eco-system is lost, and that will kill Apple.

WTH? Whoever wrote this clearly doesn't have any idea about what has been going on in architecture in, oh, the past 150 years. I met Peter Bohlin last year and we got to talking about his design strategies. He's been doing similar work throughout his career, even before BCJ (then Bohlin Powell) was founded in 1965. Check out Japanese architecture from the past 1,500 years.

As an architecture major and architectural history minor I find this comment to be Jobs-worship. Thinking that nobody else could come up with the concept of a simple and sophisticated design is just asinine.

My rant aside, I love the floor plan and can't wait to see some elevations/perspectives. Go BCJ!

Also, on a side note, BCJ is the firm that designed Bill Gates' house...

Exactly. Modern architecture has been about all of these ideals for years.

I guess it depends how much of FairPlay they end up replicating. If they replicate the server too, then it'll probably be simple to tell iTunes to look at the third-party server (just capture the data going to Apple's IP address and send it off to DoubleTwist).
If they do that it probably wouldn't work with iTMS purchased tracks. This leads to the same kind of issue as Real faed, sure you can use the Real Store, but not at the same time as ITMS. ick.

(FWIW. They could probable accomplish a simple redirection just by adding an entry to the local hosts table, since Apple most likely addresses their servers by name not IP.)

We'll see if anything comes out of this, good or bad.

    You're mixing up your kernels. NT 4.0 doesn't share a kernel with 95/98, NT 3.51 doesn't share a kernel with Windows 3.x...

Windows 7 is Windows 7 because it's the 7th release of Windows NT.

    1- Windows NT 3.1
    2- Windows NT 3.5
    3- Windows NT 4.0
    4- Windows 2000
    5- Windows XP
    6- Windows Vista
    7- Windows 7

That's the only way it makes sense.

No, smitty was correct. MS uses version numbers that identify it's code. It's how software devs can write code that decides whether the app should be allowed to install.

In a command prompt, use winver. Note the version listed
EG, Windows 95, NT 4, 98, and ME are all considered Windows 4.x. 2000 and XP are both 5.x, Vista and Windows 7 are 6.x. So it's clear 7 is nothing more than marketing.

The iPhone 4 also has edge-to-edge glass, that isn't new!
Anyway, I think that the bigger the screen within the current iPhone frame (without making the actual device any bigger), the better!

This will also be easier to adopt for developers, as "old resolution" apps can run with a small black border at the top and on the sides, while new apps can take advantage of a few extra pixels, if the pixel count changes.

If the pixel count doesn't change, but rather stays the same and the pixels get bigger, then the "retina-ness" of the display will get somewhat diluted, but maybe that would even be noticeable at this small scale.

The only thing that makes me call BS is the fact that it looks to be completely metal. Apple would need it to be plastic or rubber, otherwise signal issues will be even worse than it is with the current 3G and 3GS.

I heard this is all a rumor!!! (

Coming as little surprise to veteran Apple watchers, IDG World Expo announced on Tuesday that Apple CEO Steve Jobs would deliver the opening keynote address ( at Macworld Expo San Francisco. The expo will be held at San Francisco's Moscone Convention Center from January 8-12, with the keynote on Tuesday January 9th at 9 am Pacific at Moscone West.

Last year's keynote brought software updates including iLife ( and iWork ( 06 and Mac OS X 10.4.4 ( Also, the first Intel Macs were announced 6 months early in the form of the iMac ( and MacBook Pro (

While still early, this year's expectations have already begun to gain steam, with obvious expectations of iLife ( and iWork ( updates as well as the formal launch of the "iTV". Also possible is Apple's long-awaited phone and similarly long-awaited "true" video iPod, although both products have seen several setbacks. Lastly, with OS 10.5 Leopard's release around the corner, Jobs will undoubtedly take the opportunity to highlight some already announced (and perhaps some remaining "top-secret") features of the new operating system.
